MY 8th week!!!!!!! (Input and Output Devices)
This week covered Input and Output Devices (mostly Input). The first meeting of the week the electronic elections was the first topic of the meeting. It covered the suitability of the Electronic Voting Machines' Direct Reading Electronic and Optical Mark Readers for our country's elections. It was a battle of dependability and hygienic quality. The Important Factors in Data Capture was discussed to namely the completeness, correctness and accuracy, reliability, provisions for correction and error direction as well as the Wow i like it factor, environmental applicability, disability considerations, cost, life of the device and hygiene. I also learned that an ICT professional analyzes the following for input devices to be used in an IS namely, the data capture requirement, the people who will use it and the environment where it will be used. This week also had me wonder why Input and Output Devices always go together and darn I got the answers. First of all Input Devices are for Capturing Data and Output Devices for Presentation of needed information of the data to be captured, and the possible choices of data, and validation and confirmation of Data Captured. The reasons why these two go together are Informed Choice, Reduction of Wrong Data to be Captured and Persistence of Data Captured namely, the Electronic and Hard Copy Output.
