LAST meeting in INTRICT

In this session our teacher gave us an opportunity to make-up some additional points for our failed midterm projects. All were upset and shocked about the news and so all persevered in answering the make-up test about the different functional units and the data they process and need. In this week we all were given a brief wake-up call that we have to do and exert much effort to study hard for our finals.

INTRICT thought me a lot about technology and our society especially about Information Systems and our role as ICTM professionals. I t gave me a brief background about what to expect in the Industry as well as what the Industry expects from me. This course also made me understand more the relation and the possible integration of Economy and Technology. This course made me wander the different advantages as well as disadvantages of certain technologies. It also made me realize that this course is not a walk in a park, hence it needs total attention and determination. This subject also gave me a perspective about what jobs I can expect to land on with regards in the IT sector is concerned and proved to me that there are a lot of opportunities that awaits us ICTM professionals. INTRICT is a great and fun subject especially with our instructor which created an educational and fun-filled environment. I learned a lot and I hope that I will be able to use what I learned in the future and in my job! :)

12th WEEK-(THE INTERNET)

In this week we watched a video about the internet and its processes. First I learned about the definition of Computer Communications; which is a process in which 2 or more computers or devices transfer data, instructions and information. Its elements are the Sending Device, the Communications Channel and the Receiving Device. In the movie the process of the Internet Connection is elaborated. I t started with the HP to the Router to the Router Switch to the Network Interface(Proxy) to the Router of the site to the Internet Firewall and to the web server and then reverses the process until it reaches the user. Also the programming languages and Program Development were discussed. I learned that a computer program is a set of instructions a computer follows to enable it to perform tasks. I learned also that Programming languages are used to write instructions for the computer to understand for it to follow. The 5 languages that an Information Systems professional needs to have is Java, SQL,.NET,Web Languages (such as Java Script, JSP, PHP, AJAX and XML) and lastly, the Mobile Languages (such as J2ME). And I also learned about the roots of these languages, it started with Binary, Assembly, 1st generation language until 4th and then Visual.

INTRICT -11TH WEEK(STORAGE DEVICES)

In this meeting we first discussed about databases. I learned that databases really help in organizing large amounts of data for records and data of organizations. I also learned that the most reliable database softwares are MySQL, Oracle, MS Access, and MS SQL Server. MS Excel can be used too but it has a restriction and limit of up to 65,000 data only. We discussed about storage devices and its history. The first storage device was the 32 k 8' disk and progressed until the 1.2 MB 3.5' double sided floppy disk. After the floppy disk age then came the CD age which started from a CD/R which has 750 MB, then came the DVD which contained 4GB, then towards the DVD-DL which has 8GB and towards the BLUE RAY which contained 32 GB.

9th week

This was the week on when we did our midterm project about our field trip in MAKRO. It was all about MAKRO 's business and functional structure and everything related to MAKRO's business process. It was quite a tiresome week because we had only 2 days to make the project. All were tired and sleepy when the day of passing came.

MY 8th week!!!!!!! (Input and Output Devices)

This week covered Input and Output Devices (mostly Input). The first meeting of the week the electronic elections was the first topic of the meeting. It covered the suitability of the Electronic Voting Machines' Direct Reading Electronic and Optical Mark Readers for our country's elections. It was a battle of dependability and hygienic quality. The Important Factors in Data Capture was discussed to namely the completeness, correctness and accuracy, reliability, provisions for correction and error direction as well as the Wow i like it factor, environmental applicability, disability considerations, cost, life of the device and hygiene. I also learned that an ICT professional analyzes the following for input devices to be used in an IS namely, the data capture requirement, the people who will use it and the environment where it will be used. This week also had me wonder why Input and Output Devices always go together and darn I got the answers. First of all Input Devices are for Capturing Data and Output Devices for Presentation of needed information of the data to be captured, and the possible choices of data, and validation and confirmation of Data Captured. The reasons why these two go together are Informed Choice, Reduction of Wrong Data to be Captured and Persistence of Data Captured namely, the Electronic and Hard Copy Output.

7th WEEK in INTRICT

This week covered the stages of Information Systems Development. In the first day of the week our teacher lectured to us about the 4 vital information that we'll have always to remember. Namely first, the Stages of Information System Development which consists of Planning, Analysis, Design, Implementation, and Support and Maintenance. Second is the Organizational Knowledge namely, the Sales, Marketing, Customer Service, Production, Distribution, Inventory and Purchasing, Human Resources, Accounting and Product Development. Third, is about the task of ICTM professionals Data Capture, Data Storage, Information processing, Distribution and Access to Information, and Presentation of Information. Lastly, is the the vital parts of an Information System which are, Hardware, Software, People, Process, Data and Network.

Our main lecture for this week is about the First stage of Information Systems Development which is Planning. I learned that one must plan when to use an Information System and an Information supports Internal Improvement, Internal Mandate, External Mandate and Strategic Decision. One must also know if the problem is feasible and its type of feasibility; whether it is economic , technical or organizational. And that every planning must prepare to enter the next phase of Information Systems Development which is Analysis with a pre-Analysis activity. This activity requires: Finding the detailed situation and data gathering.

My FIFTH WEEK IN INTRICT (INFORMATION SYSTEMS)

In our only lecture this week I learned all about the essence of what is called information systems. The thing that I foresee when I think about this complex word is like something related to technology and information. In this meeting I understand now that Information Systems uses hardware, software, people, process, data and network to produce quality and dependable Information. I t helps different organizations especially enterprises in producing quality information in order to fulfill their needs as a functional unit in an enterprise. An information system is also aims to produce accurate information anywhere, anytime, when needed by people who work in a certain organization. Also I learned that an Information Systems need to be developed and implemented in an organization for: internal improvement in the conduct of operations, internal correction of problems hampering the operations, external mandate and strategically determined. And so as a student of ICTM I know now what is an Information System it would be much more easier for me to develop and use an Information System. Learning about information systems is important for this can help me as a future ICTM professional to help and contribute to my designated enterprise.
