MY 4TH WEEK IN INTRICT

Enterprise a very deep and overwhelming word when first comes into mind....... from my stack knowledge enterprise for me is some sort of a cycle in business. But this week I truly understood a much social and industrial background of the word enterprise. Well from what I understood enterprise is an organized business activities aimed specifically at growth and profit it is also a commercial company. In an enterprise resources are used and moved, functions are divided but needs to work together, and it needs to be managed with great tactics and finese . I also learned that in different businesses positions are divided into four the Strategic Management, Middle Management, Operational Management and the lowest Non-management. Each division of management have different gravity of tasks and decisions to make: the Strategic gives a decision that is used in a long term and covers the entire enterprise, the Middle gives medium termed decisions which covers a whole regular business cycle and covers entire division or department, and lastly the Operational which has very short term of decision which takes up to a day only and it handles a specific unit only. Overall the enterprise is composed of different sectors namely the sales, distribution, human resources, marketing, manufacturing, accounting and finance, customer service, inventory and purchasing, and engineering or product development. And with these certain sectors the enterprise will become more productive than ever thus becoming more efficient and effective than ever. In conclusion an enterprise is a community where leading cooperation and productivity is needed and as an ICTM student we must be prepared to be able to help enterprises someday to achieve its goals and meet success!

MY THIRD WEEK IN INTRICT

This week I learned about what ICTM professionals must be prepared about. I discovered that there is a low employment rate for ICTM professionals today because of the fact that they finish their studies half-baked in which they don't have enough quality education to manage the standards of these certain jobs. And so these mass of ICTM professionals go to Call Center Jobs. But I learned that by studying at La Salle acquiring certain jobs can be much easier than studying in other institutions for the fact that this institute provides its students much better and effective system of education to make a quality work force for our country. I also had a clear overview of what we the next generation of ICTM professionals should acquire. We should be able to analyze organizational situations, we should be able to conceptualize and design software, we should be able to plan the execution of Technological Solutions, we should be able to execute the projects assigned, we should be able to train the users of our programs of the solution, we should be able to launch solutions for the organization we work for and lastly we should perform maintenance to the solution. Also we should acquire and express non-technical skills especially being analytical, critical thinker, team- attitude, independent worker, resourceful, socially responsible and must be a good leader. With these skills I'm sure a good professional will be formed. By seeing those skills I realized that there is much work to be done to myself and that I better start now to improve myself. This meeting made me aware that one must really work in order to achieve greatness towards his work and himself. I hope that I acquire these traits hehehehehe........ But I will try my best and give it all in order to become a fulfilled ICTM professional.

Job Posting Results

After browsing to different jobs for ictm graduates i succesfully evaluated the technical, non-technical skills and responsibilities for each.

The technical skills I gathered are:

  • Visual Basic
  • Java
  • C++
  • Lotus
  • SQL
  • .Net frameworks
  • Flash
  • Microsoft apps

The non-technical skills I gathered are:

  • Ability to manage projects
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Has strong leadership
  • Good analytical Skills
  • Has initiative

The responsibilities I gathered are:

  • Game Design
  • Managing a group
  • Make specific projects

My Insights:

I was shocked that there is a large array of job opportunities for ictm graduates but most of them find programmers, not people who integrate technology with management or create a rightful place for specific programs. Having the knowledge about Microsoft applications gave the most powerful edge from the data I gathered. But there are still a lot that needed you to know about programming languages. The greatest non-technical skill required is being analytic; I think the reason is in order for an ICTM professional to create useful and productive applications for programs, one must analyze the needs of a certain company in order to associate a program well with it. And the most responsibility needed is making certain projects or programs for a certain company in order to help them maximize sales and productivity as well. This was an interesting activity because it gave me an early overview of what I must become to become a marketable it professional!

Our Second week in INTRICT

This first day of the 2nd week allowed us to know how to associate being an ICTM student with the word productivity. I learned that being productive is having the sense of efficiency and effectiveness by your side in order to have great progress in a certain task and a great value that is completed in a shorter period of time. I also realized that something valuable must have volume, impact and essence by its side. Also the essence of something of value must have personal, departmental or organizational intent. I also discovered that technology really contribute to one's productivity for its multi-tasking and portability aspects. In this meeting as well I discovered that it is our time to be those people who will take responsibility in the development of technology for the good and convinience of the world.

On the 2nd day our teacher explaind to us the difference between bs- cs and bs-ictm. Our first impression about ictm was an integration of programming with management but the real deal was it is a course where we are taught how to put programs into good use and its proper displacement. In this meeting we looked up about what an ICTM professional really is and how one thinks. I learned that these days I must contribute a program that has cloud computing capabilities, available for e-commerce and business integration, and allows speech interface and data visualization in order to build and support a more convinient yet efficient environment. I learned that an ICTM profesional thinks about technology as a medium of data capture, data storage, data and information access, information processing presentation of information. Also an ICTM professional must become a Master of Technology, Human Systems, Designing and implementation of integrating technology to human systems. And as a summary cs students study about how programs are made and its complex structures while an ICTM student study how to put programs into its rightful application in real life.
